Internship: Junior Communication Manager
Greenovate! is recruiting an intern for a 6 month period starting in September 2010.
We are a European membership organisation who support innovation processes for renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste & recycling and sustainable construction. Our small team in Brussels works with partners from all over Europe from research, SMEs, large corporations, cleantech investors, science parks, cluster organisations and consultancies, all with a keen interest in clean technologies.
We are looking for well organised students or recent graduates, with excellent communication skills, an analytic mind, and the ability to take initiative. Fluent English language skills are absolutely necessary; knowledge of any other EU languages is welcome.
The trainee will have the opportunity to accumulate experience in a very international working environment focusing on innovation support for the environmental sector.
The trainee will be able to develop and practice communication, planning, timing and quality control skills during the preparation of several events related to eco-innovation. The events have different target groups and will each require a tailored set of communication tools. All events are mid-sized = below 100 participants.

Job description
- Supervised development of tailored communication packages for a series of mid-sized events
- Event planning and coordination with organisers and speakers
- Regular website updates and support to the monthly newsletter
- Writing profiles, summaries and short news stories in English
- Desk research on innovation actors and activities
- Occasional database feeding

Greenovate! Europe offices are located in the multicultural “Renewable Energy House”, close to the European Parliament and the Council, right in the heart of the European quarter of Brussels.

Internship requirements
Greenovate! Europe is open to applications from committed individuals that wish to deepen their knowlegde of innovation processes on EU level, and feel they can contribute to promote environmentally friendly solutions.

The successful applicant is
- well organised, accurate and able to work independently
- able to write shorts texts in English in clear style
- a skilled oral communicator
- good at planning and organising events
- at ease with website management
- Knowledge of MS Access and of graphic design software are a an asset

Internship conditions
Trainees typically enjoy the following:
650 € / month
6-months trainee position agreement
multicultural workplace in the heart of Brussels
