British Council eNews - Development of Marketplace - Special Edition December 2010


Call for Proposals


World Bank Office in Albania and the British Council Albania wish to invite all interested organisations, associations and institutions to submit innovative ideas that will promote better governance and accountability in Albania, especially at local level.


Project proposals are expected to contribute to any of the following sub-themes:
- Accountability and transparency at the national and local level;
- Empowerment of interest groups (or advocacy groups);
- Anti-corruption activities;
- Civic education; public access to information;
- Economic governance;
- National policies dialogue;
- Participatory national and local budgeting;
- Transparency and oversight over the use of budgetary resources;
- Inclusion of civil society monitoring in public procurement;
- Participatory processes on prioritization of local public investments;
- Monitoring of public service delivery.


Those eligible to apply are the legal local or national Not for Profit Organisations (NPOs), local community associations, foundations, public or private academic institutions in partnership with a non governmental organisation, public or private training institutions in partnership with a non governmental organisation.


The best proposals will receive grants from 5,000 USD to 10,000 USD per project.

The completed application forms and all supporting documents should be submitted by e-mail to [email protected] or regular post to British Embassy Rr. 'Skenderbej' Nr. 12, Tirana, 1000 Albania (FAO: British Council - Etleva Selmani) by 17:00 on Friday 21st January 2011.


Winners will be notified in writing via e-mail by Monday February 14th 2011.
