CALL FOR FACILITATORS - Symposium on the Recognition of Youth Work and Non-Formal Learning

In the frame of the preparation of the ‘Symposium on Recognition of Youth Work and Non-Formal Learning’ which will be held in the EYC, Strasbourg on 14-16 November 2011, the EU-CoE youth partnership is looking for 9 facilitators .

The Symposium is the results of more than ten years dedicated to the issue of recognition of non-formal education/learning and more recently, of youth work. Following the request of a number of stakeholders to develop a more coordinated approach at European level, the EU-CoE youth partnership’s first step was to update the working paper Pathways 2.0 towards recognition of non-formal learning/education and of youth work in Europe. In 2010, the Management Board of the EU-CoE youth partnership decided to organise a Symposium on recognition of youth work and non-formal learning.

The Symposium aims at establishing a common ground for a medium and long-term coordinated strategy toward recognition of youth work and non-formal learning in Europe with the involvement of actors and stakeholders from the various sectors of policy concerned.

It will gather about 100 participants from – among others – youth organisations, researchers, representatives of the European Commission and the Council of Europe, SALTO RCs and National Agencies as well as other stakeholders such as the European Youth Forum, national governments, social partners, UN agencies (ILO, UNESCO), World Bank or Employers Organisations.

Profile of the facilitators

With the support of one or two team members, the 9 selected facilitators will need to develop and implement the most suitable methods to be used in the working groups and for the side events and moments.

Facilitators will have to:

- Be able to facilitate group work under time pressure with the aim to develop and agree on common conclusions and points for the Roadmap and the declaration;
- Be competent in working with participatory working methods both with different age and target groups;
- Be experienced in working with international groups;
