Duty station: Milan
Direct supervisor / Reports to: Head of Research and Programs Innovation Office (COOPI HQ)

Background:

COOPI is an Italian non-governmental organization, committed to fighting against social injustice and poverty in the global south and to building a future that guarantees everyone adequate living conditions, equal opportunities and respect of their rights.
Since 1965 COOPI has carried out more than 600 development projects and emergency interventions. In Africa, Latin America, Middle East, COOPI promotes the access to safe water and the right to proper health and education services in poorer communities, and gives immediate and long-term assistance to crises affected populations.

Type of Position
COOPI is Looking for a Program Manager to coordinate an ECHO co-funded project on energy access in formal and informal settlements. The program has a very wide network of partners and includes two pilot projects to be set up in two African countries. Expected date of start of the project: February 2016

Main Tasks
• To ensure the overall coordination, planning, monitoring and management of the project activities (Management and training of the project staff included).
• Networking activities with the partners, the donor and international networks the organisation participates in).
• Coordination of the two pilot projects to be carried out at field level.
• Preparation of internal reports on activities and of interim and final reports for the donor.
• Supervise financial and administrative management of the programme (Purchase and supply management included).
• Participation in the elaboration of new project proposals if required.

Requirements
• Minimum 6 years relevant professional experience (of which at least 5 years in the field).
• Experience in humanitarian context (better in emergency).
• Excellent knowledge of English (essential) Knowledge of French would be an asset.
• Previous experience in IDPs/Refugees operations or in access to energy related issues.
• Excellent reporting skills.
• Very good capacity of coordinating a wide variety of actors (internal and external) and of representing the organization at high level meetings.

Personal skills: Good analytical skills; Capacity to interact with different actors (internal /external) at various levels; Capacity to work under stress; ability to communicate effectively and to motivate the team; results based approach.

Duration of the assignment Period: two years starting from February 2016.
