The CSCP-coordinated Action Town Project is currently looking for an intern to start in October 2010.


Duration: October 2010-February / March 2011

Location: London, UK (with Action Town Partner WWF-UK)

The role:
The EU FP7 funded Action Town Project is seeking an intern to support the preparation and organisation of an international conference in London aimed at researchers and NGO leaders in the field of sustainable consumption and production.


About the project:
The aim of the EC financed Action Town project is to develop partnerships between research and civil society organisations to increase the effectiveness of civil society organization (CSO) actions towards Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). Project partners are WWFUK, CSCP, SERI, ANPED and SEI. Project partners and collaborators from research and civil society are currently working on a roadmap for effective CSO strategies to tackle the global environmental crisis. The aim of the roadmap is to influence funding and research agendas across Europe. See also action-town.eu/media-house/atrw_intro/ for further information. A final conference will be organised in February/March 2011 to engage a broad range of civil society organisations, researchers and funders around the debate for more effective CSO strategies to tackle the global environmental crisis.


Tasks - Support the project team from WWF-UK and CSCP in all tasks related to the organisation of the final Action Town conference in February / March 2011.- Help with communication and engagement of Action Town project collaborators from CSOs and research organisations.- Help preparing the logistics and conference agenda.- Help with invitations and registration of conference attendees and speakers.- Help organising all logistical issues like venue and catering.- Help engaging Action Town collaborators in our NING collaborative online platform.- Help writing newsletters for our Action Town collaborators.


Required skills - Excellent organisational skills.- Strong communication skills.- Excellent team working skills.- Experience collaborating in international projects.- Good project management skills.- Good writing skills (English).- Experience in event organisation is of advantage.- An understanding of the civil society sector and the sustainable development agenda is of advantage.
