Halving road deaths by 2020

Data: 16/11/2010

This summer the European Commission has adopted challenging plans to reduce the number of road deaths on Europe's roads by half in the next 10 years. The Road Safety Programme 2011-2020 – as part of a set of European Road Safety Policy Orientations – consists of seven strategic objectives. As in the Road Safety Action Programme 2001-2010, the main focus stays on the idea of shared responsibility.
Thus, the common effort continues and it is very important that all signatories of the Charter go on with their commitment on road safety. You can renew your commitment with the same or new actions, with more or less activities. Don’t hesitate to contact the Charter team with any questions regarding the renewal process!
Also dedicated to the common awareness of road safety is the European Road Safety Day. In October this meeting was held for the third time in Brussels, you can find the presentations of the speakers on the Road Safety Section of the European Commission’s website.
