LTTC Urban Youth - Call for 1 trainer

SALTO Inclusion is currently looking for a trainer to work on the LTTC | Urban Youth (please read the course description and this call before applying)

- The first residential seminar part will take place first in Hungary from Wednesday 6 Tuesday (arrival date for participants) till 11 Sunday December 2011 (departure day for participants)
- The second seminar will take place in Marseille, January 2013 (the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2013).


Prep-meetings foreseen:
- Prep-meeting 1 - Brussels, 18-19 April 2011
- Prep-meeting 2 - Budapest, second half 2011 (according to the availability of the team)
- Mid-term evaluation - Marseille, September 2012 (according to the availability of the team)


Programme Elements (draft-to be further developed by the Team)
- Overview of the situation of young people in (sub)urban areas in different countries - commonalities and differences;
- Theoretical input about the background and quality aspects of urban youth work;
- Links between theory and practice;
- Presentation of former youth projects in disadvantaged (sub)urban areas - analysis of challenges encountered and ways/methods to overcome them;
- Project visits in Hungarian and French sub-urban areas - questions and answers -distilling principles of good practice;
- Presentation/sharing of existing resources (programmes, funding, methods, approaches,...) relevant for working with young people in disadvantaged (sub)urban areas;
- Support for participants in realizing their projects between the two training courses;
- Next steps, action plans, recommendations for the Youth in Action programme and SALTO publication on Urban youth.


Target Group of the Seminar

There will be places for 25 participants at the training, selected according to the criteria below:
- directly working with youth in difficult or disadvantaged (sub)urban areas - this can be (voluntary or paid) youth workers, social workers, educators, peers and others who are working with/organising projects for the target group in these areas.
- having organised/implemented international youth projects and cooperation activities in (sub)urban areas - either within the Youth in Action programme or other programmes or initiatives.
- having a good working knowledge of (international :-) English, the working language of the seminar.
- available to actively attend the full duration of the course.


Trainers team

The trainers team will be composed of 3 trainers (plus National Agency & SALTO Inclusion staff).
- One trainer has been recruited and contracted by the French NA: Marie Wittamer (EuroCircle, Marseille)
- One trainer by the Hungarian NA: Graeme Tiffany (UK).
- The present call is for the 3rd trainer to be contracted by SALTO Inclusion.

The SALTO Inclusion trainer will co-facilitate the seminar on equal footing with the 2 other trainers.

The requirements are:
- experience with international projects and (sub)urban youth work;
- experience in Youth in Action Programme or/and its predecessors;
- experience in coaching youth projects in long term training projects, via internet/etc.;
- experience in facilitating workshops and debates - trainer skills;
- being able to work and write in English (not necessarily native speaker);
- If Hungarian - knowledge of local reality in Budapest.


Trainer fees

SALTO Inclusion uses the SALTO trainer fee system to pay the trainers. This is 260?/day for the course days (residential) and a lump sum equalling this amount for all preparation, communication and reporting. For the 4-day course, this is 1040 ? plus a lump sum of 1040? to cover all the preparation time (meetings), communication and reporting (total 2080?).

There will be a similar contract for the second residential seminar in Marseille (2013) and a separate contract for 2012 covering the coaching of the participants' projects (to be negotiated).

László Milutinovits of the Hungarian National Agency will coordinate the LTTC. Gilles Baccala, will represent the French NA in the team and will host the second residential seminar. Marija Kljajic will be on the team for the SALTO-Inclusion Resource Centre and be the contact person for the trainer selected through this call.
