Job Summary:

This position contributes to the mission of the organization by: developing and planning Allied Health training curriculum for various Medical Teams International (Medical Teams International) Allied Health programs in addition to recruiting, screening, and deploying Allied Health technical teams. In collaboration with the EMC Senior Advisor and regional program/country managers, this position will also provide technical guidance and advice in the development, implementation and monitoring of Allied Health projects and systems worldwide.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop and adapt Allied Health curricula for use by Medical Teams International volunteer training teams and staff worldwide.

1. Emergency nursing, trauma nursing, emergency unit personnel and other related courses;
2. Basic and Advanced Life Support training and other related courses; development of lesson plans, objectives, presentations (both PowerPoint and video) and assessment tools;
3. Coordination of culturally and linguistically appropriate curriculum translation;
4. Evaluation of each course and the ongoing evaluation of each technical team;
5. Observe and evaluate educational trends and augment curricula as necessary;
6. Explain technical medical concepts and practices in simple non-technical language;
7. Promote development of curriculum for use in a distance learning format

- Assist with the collection of baseline data, provide technical assistance in the establishment of country Allied Health program goals, objectives, strategies, measurable impact indicators, and plans to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness.

- Collaboratively create and oversee the implementation of a Quality Assurance Program to maintain Allied Health standards and program integrity.

- Provide the framework for a global continuing education program for use in our country programs.

- Recruit and deploy volunteer EMC & Allied Health technical teams globally to Medical Teams International’s EMC & Allied Health projects and programs.

- Work closely with volunteers, headquarters and field staff and to determine Allied Health supply and equipment needs.

- Build relationships with local, national and international officials, NGO staff, volunteers, donors and others as appropriate.

- Represent the EMC Senior Advisor and the EMC/Allied Health program as needed.

- Develop appropriate scopes of work for EMC & Allied Health technical teams as necessary.

- Assist in post trip team debrief of volunteer teams.

- When appropriate, incorporate the use of volunteers in daily job functions.

- Other duties as assigned.


Required Minimum Qualifications

Required:

- Training in emergency medicine education at the Paramedic (EMT-P) level or equivalent.
- Licensure (or equivalent) as a Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (or higher) in the United States of America.
- Valid non-restricted United States of America passport.
- Training in Allied Health education and curriculum development.
- At least three years full time direct emergency patient care experience in a recognized healthcare delivery system – field or hospital setting.
- Project management experience.


Preferred:

- Baccalaureate degree or higher.
- Registered nurse or higher.
- RedR or related security training.
- Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) training.
- Certified adult educator or equivalent.
- Registered Nurse or equivalent.
- Willingness to obtain or have held ACLS and PALS certification at the instructor level.
- International organizational (governmental or NGO) experience.
- Experience living and working within a developing country.
- Commitment to Medical Teams International mission statement.
- Working knowledge of the principles of project cycle management (PCM).
- Understanding of the basic principles of distance learning in a Allied Health context.
- Proven cross-cultural expertise.
- Flexible team player.
- Willing to travel 20% of time internationally as necessary.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; flexible.
- Ability to operate well in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work flexible schedule and weekends as needed.
- Demonstrated ability in group facilitation, training and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate and relate well with volunteer constituents, medical professionals, community leaders, and international partners/staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
