OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To support the National Malaria and TB Programs in smooth implementation of their activities including Global Fund project activities as part of the overall programs.


Description of duties

Purpose of the Post:
To facilitate, support and ensure smooth and quality implementation of the WHO malaria and TB programs and to cooperate closely with the national counterparts at all levels and UNDP as the principal recipient the WHO Global Fund Projects.


Organizational Context:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the WHO Representative (WR) and he/she will be responsible for the overall management of the WHO Global Fund (GF) Project activities.


Summary of Assigned Duties:

Under the overall guidance of WR Iran the incumbent will perform the following:

1. Assist the national Malaria programme and the national TB programme (NTP) of the Ministry of Health in implementation, monitoring and evaluation (IME) of the WHO GF projects for malaria and TB;
2. Update the project work plans in collaboration with UNDP and CDC Iran;
3. Ensure timely preparation of needed reports and submission of financial flow, monitoring and evaluation and other reports as well as progress reports;
4. Coordinate the administrative and technical matters related to WHO GF projects (malaria and TB) in the country office including procurement of the project supplies;
5. Facilitate development of a comprehensive system for monitoring and evaluation of malaria elimination activities including routine malaria surveillance and synthesize reports on progress;
6. Coordinate and facilitate sharing information on malaria and cross border activities among neighboring countries;
7. Coordinate and support implementation of training programmes and research activities for malaria and TB.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential:
University degree in Medicine or Public Health.

Desirable:
Masters Degree in Public Health or Management.

Other Skills (e.g. IT):
Advanced computer literacy and experience in Microsoft office, internet.


Experience

Essential: At least 2 years experience in Disease Management and/or public health administration.

Desirable: Familiarity with UN agencies' work and structure.


Languages: Excellent knowledge of English and the local language.
