Event and Communication Assistant
EENA, the European Emergency Number Association, is a Brussels-based NGO set up in 1999 dedicated to promoting high-quality emergency services reached by the number 112 throughout the EU.

EENA serves as a discussion platform for emergency services, public authorities, decision makers, associations and solution providers in view of improving emergency response in accordance with citizens' requirements.

EENA is also promoting the establishment of an efficient system for alerting citizens about imminent or developing emergencies.

The EENA memberships include 450 emergency services representatives from 39 European countries, 25 solution providers, 9 international associations/organisations as well as 26 Members of the European Parliament.


Job description

The EENA is looking for a Junior Event and Communication Assistant who will contribute to the organisation of EENA events (3/4 per year) and to the communication activities.

The position is multidisciplinary and requires flexibility and adaptation to a rather small but quickly growing NGO environment.


Event organisation

• Contribute to the definition of the events’ strategy;
• Contribute to the organisation of the events (selection of venue, invitation of speakers, etc).


Awareness campaigns

• Contribute to the definition of a strategy to publicise 112;
• Coordinate actions towards dissemination channels (tourism industry, etc...);
• Manage the PR policy concerning the promotion of 112.


Office and communication

• Assist the team in managing phone calls, logistics, invoicing and office furniture;
• Write or review all types of documents (policy, studies, publications, etc...);
• Manage the editing of the EENA website;
• Contribute to the extension of the EENA Emergency Services Network (112 ESSN).


Additional missions

The Junior Event and Office Assistant will be invited to contribute to several other missions of the association, for instance:

• EU funded projects;
• Consultancy projects;
• Advocacy campaigns.


Profile

• Ready to work in a small but dynamic and quickly growing NGO;
• Committed to the objectives of EENA and citizens’ rights;
• Results focused;
• Very good knowledge of MS Office;
• Based in Brussels;
• Flexible in terms of working time and willing to travel in Europe (4-6 times per year);
• Excellent English and French; good knowledge of other EU languages a plus;
• General understanding of the functioning of EU institutions a plus.


Offer

• “Convention d'immersion professionnelle” (about 700 EUR/month) during 6 months from October 2011 that will be followed by a permanent contract if satisfactory;
• Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 6.00 pm; the Junior Event and Office Assistant will be invited to work and travel outside working hours including evenings and weekends (mostly in the context of EENA events).
