WWF, the global conservation organisation, is looking to fill a full time paid internship position for its European Policy Office (WWF EPO) in Brussels to work as a: Communicator on the EU budget reform (‘Smarter spending’).
Major Functions:
The campaigner will develop, coordinate and deliver an effective communication campaign at EU level, to ensure that the EU budget 2014-2020 benefits the environment through ‘smarter spending’ (shift away from environmentally harmful subsidies to green economy sectors like renewable energies, energy savings).
Required qualifications and skills:
• A university degree in communication, EU affairs/policy or a related field;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Ability to take initiative;
• Campaigning and advocacy experience; An understanding of how to use policy analysis, lobbying, public campaigning, media, communications and alliance-building to influence a political agenda, and experience of engaging with and influencing decision-makers;
• Developing and delivering campaign material (online and offline);
• Good analytical and critical thinking skills; Strong team player able to work effectively in a global network setting;
• Enthusiasm for and commitment to WWF’s values and mission; Previous experience of working with NGOs is an asset.
This position reports directly to the team leader of the EU budget programme and is in permanent contact with the Communication unit and in frequent contact with the national WWF offices in Europe.
This role will suit a self-starter who possesses a pro-active and can-do attitude with the ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously and work with a network of offices and other organisations campaigning on the EU budget. 3.
Required conditions:
Candidates should be EU citizens or have a valid work permit for Belgium.
