Mission:

To be responsible for the development and expansion of QVC's brand strategy for home category, in particular for the areas: kitcken, cleaning, home textile, home décor, food, seasonal, domestic appliances. To lead, manage and develop a team of Buyers responsible for growing and maximizing product ranges through the sourcing, purchasing and merchandising of specific products for QVC.


Accountabilities:

Merchandising
- To identify new markets, new categories and new customers to meet QVC long term buying strategy;
- To develop and expand QVC's brand strategy;
- To negotiate broader contract terms with suppliers ie new countries of trade, supply chain, trade agreements;
- To conduct meeting with vendors to review product performance, develop new concepts and ensure that products comply with QVC's long-term objectives and quality standards;
- To identify, develop and work on larger promotional events with vendors and buying team;
- To assist with Quality Assurance formulation setting procedures and standards for new products;
- To work closely with the Planning, Broadcasting, Warehouse departments in order to develop a good understanding of QVC operational requirements to aid buying decisions;
- To work closely with Broadcasting and Planning department to develop long term strategic positioning of products.


Vendor Relations
- To agree/devise annual plan in relation to supplier;
- To keep abreast of new trends ensuring that QVC is first to take advantage of all new ideas/concepts and products, providing information and coaching to the overall buying team;
- To establish market contacts and work with Buyers and Heads of Buying do develop supplier relationships;
- To negotiate vendor contracts and ensure they are executed in a timely manner.


Staff Management
- To be responsible for selection, training and performance of Buyers and/or Buyers Administrators within the product area;
- To utilize the training department/external training bodies and coaching techniques to enhance the development of team;
- Set the team short and long term objectives in line with overall company objectives.


Financial Management
- To contribute towards the formulation of budgets and application forecasting tools to ensure sales targets are met.


Selection criteria

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Minimum 8 years experience working within a buying/merchandising office of a major retail company is essential in particular in kitcken, cleaning, home textile, home décor, food, seasonal, domestic appliances;
- A good understanding of margins, profit, sales and inventory management;
- Good commercial/business awareness;
- Good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills;
- Good English knowledge.
