"What role can youth work play in tackling racial discrimination?"
Partnership Building Activity for ethnic and mainstream organisations, 10-14 December 2012, Stockholm, Sweden

The Swedish national agency is looking for 2 trainers with experience in the field of cross-community work and in the organisation of partnership building activity.

Activity description:
The partnership building activity in Sweden enables networking amongst experienced and new organisations with tackling racism through youth work, networking and bringing new inputs and perspectives for project planning and implementation.

The twofold aim of the partnership building activity is to foster cooperation between ethnic and mainstream organisations as well as the exchange of good practises in the above mentioned field, aiming at increasing common projects in Youth in Action programme.

Thanks to the constellation of the group, participants will have the opportunity to experience the varied context of the theme and to explore possibilities for new partnerships and projects.

During the seminar, participants will be able to share knowledge on YiA and get inspired from each other?s work. The focus of the discussion will be set on tackling racism/discrimination through youth work, including an exchange on the various issues and priorities within this broad field.

Main purpose of the activity:

The purpose of the PBA is to bring groups and organizations together in order to create sustainable partnerships and future youth projects

Objectives:
- Increasing understanding and awareness of racism (experience) (the theme)
- Sharing real life examples and experiences
- Providing a space for creating new projects
- Encouraging the creation for new partnerships (Measure: have you found new partners?)
- Exploring Youth in Action as an tool for realizing new projects

Expected Results/effects:
- New projects
- New partnerships
- More understanding of different realities and the given theme and the effect of people

"Guiding principle":
Making "the pax" realize the benefit of cooperation with others (the stair that ends with sustainable partnership)

Target group:
- Youth workers/coaches/other working directly with young people(Those who have real life examples of topic)
- New comers and earlier experienced in the EU-program Youth in Action
- Committed to create a project

The organizing countries:
An open call.
OBS: 12 pax are reserved from Denmark, Sweden, UK, Netherlands, Norway and Germany, ( 2pax / country).

Dates:
The training will be held during week 50, OBS! exact dates are still discussed and depend on the availability of the venue. This means that the training can start either on 10th or 11th but more info on that will be communicated to those who are interested.


Main elements in the program:
- Intro
- Theme (theory vs reflection + openness)
- Best practice examples/ ?Realities? (let pax know why it is important)
- Projects

Ideas for content to program. (from the APV visit in Sweden, 20-21June)
- Space for planning common project, time to fill in application
- Finding common interests
- Sharing realities of their work with young people
- Social time - getting to know each other
- Space to explore project ideas
- Local project visits around theme
- Open Space to explore theme/introduce
- Lead the pax into the activity with preparatory tasks ? lead them out with follow-up tasks
- Try out things in practice
- Talk about what can you do about "it".

Role of the trainers
- Design the content and methodology of the Partnership Building Activity
- Structure the programme of the seminar and facilitate the sessions
- Prepare the final report

Profile of the trainers
- experience in the organisation of trainings and seminars;
- involvement in the Youth in Action programme;
- a good insight in the topic of the PBA;
- good level of English;

Please keep in mind that the team of trainers must be available for a prep-meeting, the dates are not set yet.

Fees & costs
5 full working days (inclusive preparation and final report) at 280 euro per day.

Costs for food and accommodation, as well as travel costs for the prep-meeting and the seminar are covered by the organisers.
