The autumn 2012 edition of Panorama magazine entitled "Investing in regions" is now online in 21 languages. The centrepiece is a 6 page feature on the use of Financial instruments to support regional policy, which analyses the various forms of loans and venture capital available, and gives examples of successful projects from the UK, Sweden, Poland and Estonia. The support provided by the JEREMIE, JASMINE and JESSICA initiatives is also detailed, as well as some of the challenges faced in implementing and allocating financing and the proposed modifications for the 2014-2020 period.
The other main highlight is an exclusive interview with former President of the European Commission Jaques Delors, who offers his perspective on the current financial crisis, as well as the history and development of Cohesion policy, and his vision of the future for investment in Europe's regions.
Elsewhere the priorities of the current Cypriot presidency of the EU are revealed, as they relate to regional policy. Adonis Constantinides, Coordinator for the Multiannual Financial Framework and Chair of the Structural Actions Working Party, underlines the need for solidarity and social cohesion, and names the Multiannual Financial Framework negotiations as their top priority.
There is also a preview of October's Open Days event, and the 27 finalists for RegioStars 2013 are announced.
