RegioFlash: Building Peace through Regional Policy: The EU experience in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland
During his visit to Derry/Londonderry in 2011, Commissioner Hahn met with a number of remarkable projects supported under the EU's PEACE III Programme. The Commissioner suggested that an event be organised in Brussels to highlight the work of these projects and the achievements of the PEACE programme since 1995. The significance and timeliness of the conference has been greatly enhanced by the recent award of the Noble Peace Prize to the European Union.
The event, planned for Thursday 31st January 2013 in the Charlemagne building in Brussels, will take the form of a half-day conference featuring a series of PEACE funded project testimonials and will include a plenary session to explore to what degree the distinctive peace-building technique could be adapted to other regions.
