The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is looking for 1.


Description


WAGGGS seeks an experienced non-formal education writer to develop a curriculum in fluent English on body image and self-esteem.

You will:

• Adapt topic knowledge on self-esteem and body confidence to the target audiences; girls aged 7-10 and girls aged 11-14 across 16 different countries;
• Develop exciting and meaningful non-formal educational activities to deliver learning on self-esteem and body confidence;
• Review resources from other youth resources focusing on this topic, including both past curricula developed by Girl Guide and Girl Scout Associations and external resources, adapting and updating material as required;
• Explore recent research in the topic area from academic and non-governmental institutions in an international context;
• Research and incorporate case studies and personal profiles to capture the diversity of perspectives on beauty, body confidence and self-esteem, and inspire cross cultural learning;
• Incorporate feedback from key stakeholders and revise the curriculum accordingly;
• Ensure the curriculum reflects the international and cultural diversity of the organisation and can be used effectively within the 16 WAGGGS National Associations who will be targeted to deliver the curriculum both through peer education and traditional adult leader delivery;
• Take future adaptation of the resource into an e-learning format into account during the development process.

Requested trainer profile

You will:

• Be an experienced writer of youth focused educational resources, curriculums or activity packs;
• Have an excellent understanding of how to apply non-formal educational methods to meet learning objectives;
• Have experience of working with volunteers and an understanding of how voluntary youth organisations deliver education;
• Have experience working with other cultures or delivering education in an international context.


Working conditions

A fee of £8,000 is offered for delivery of the final version. The fee can be negotiable on the basis of an exceptional candidate. The writer must deliver the curriculum in fluent written English. The work must start in May and be complete in August 2013.


Team composition

You will work with the WAGGGS Programme Development Manager, WAGGGS Head of Dove Global Programme, topic experts from the Dove Self Esteem Project and the writer of the supporting leader guide.
