Highlights of the month:

• MOOCs and Beyond - eLearning Papers 33


eLearning Papers 33 focuses on the challenges and future of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). The rich selection of articles included in "MOOCs and Beyond" aims to shed light on the way these online courses affect both educational institutions and learners and tries to find answers to some of the questions confronted by teachers and researchers. • LINQ 2013

What are the challenges ahead for digital resources in education? This is the theme of the Learning Innovations and Quality conference - LINQ 2013, which will take place in in Rome on 16-17 May. In its second edition, the event will emphasize the importance of digital repositories and their usage in lifelong learning, as well as improving learning innovations and quality.

• First Pan-European MOOC initiative

Welcome OpenupEd.eu! The first pan-European MOOCs initiative was officially launched on the 25th of April with the support of the European Commission. Partners in 11 countries have joined forces in this exciting and ambitious project, which already offers around 40 online courses free of charge. We invite you to have a look at it.

• OER for teacher training

Call for interest - an OER for training teacher trainers. The International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) invites expressions of interest for producing courseware in the form of an open educational resource for training teacher trainers in high quality open, distance and online learning.

• OpenCourseWare Excellence Awards 2013

The winners of the OpenCourseWare Excellence Awards 2013 are Professor Barbara Illowsky (USA), for her work in creating an open statistics text book used by more than 20 colleges, and Professor ChiKaung Pai (Taiwan), for her efforts in establishing the National Chiao Tung University Open CourseWare and leading the Taiwan OpenCourseWare Consortium.

• ORIOLE survey 2013 on learning resources

Participate in the ORIOLE Survey 2013, which aims to collect and share data about how learning resources are used and sourced in higher education. Available in English and Spanish, the online survey will remain open until May 30th.
