The Transparency International EU Office in Brussels is seeking a new Director.
The EU Office is registered as AISBL (under Belgian law) and it is part of the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Together with more than 90 national chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI EU raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption at the EU level. The EU Office promotes transparency, integrity and accountability in EU policies and institutions.
The Director of the TI EU Office in Brussels represents TI vis-à-vis the key institutions of the EU and other stakeholders in Brussels. Its task is to take the issue of corruption to scale at the EU level and anchor it prominently and firmly on the EU agenda.

Starting date:
01 September 2013 to 31 August 2015 (24 months)
Location: TI EU Office, Brussels, Belgium
Reporting lines: Reporting to the Executive President of the Board
Remuneration: The Director will be remunerated according to Belgian labour and social security law

Key tasks include:
• Develop and manage the implementation of an advocacy strategy designed to influence the policies and institutions of the European Union (EU);
• Fundraise, manage the TI EU Office staff and volunteers and manage the Office’s budget;
• Act as spokesperson in Brussels, work with the media on EU-related issues that includes EU-specific press releases, EU media interviews, effective use of social media, and public presentations;
• Contribute to TI-S’ global SAFE and rapid response work by meeting EU decision makers and undertaking high-level interventions and advocacy actions;
• Analyse and assess EU politics and EU policy-making and develop TI EU policy positions in areas of key priorities in TI 2015;
• Develop and manage relations with a wide array of actors within EU institutions, permanent representations of member states to the EU and Brussels-based civil society, private sector, professional bodies and academia;
• Ensure full compliance of the EU Office as an AISBL with Belgian law.

Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:
• Proven leadership skills and at least 5 years of senior management experience at Director level;
• Demonstrated knowledge of EU institutions and the policy making at the EU level in Brussels (at least 5 years);
• Knowledge in the work of TI and expertise in the field of anti-corruption (required);
• Proven fundraising track record;
• Strong writing and creative advocacy and communication skills including through multimedia and social media communications tools
Experience with media work and as spokesperson;
• University degree in Communications, Journalism, European Studies, Economics, Law, Political Sciences, International Relations or other social science related field;
• Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken) is a requirement.
