Context:
We want a seasoned marketing professional with a particular passion for and knowledge of digital marketing and social media to lead Diageo NA’s Digital Marketing team. We want someone who can visualize the future of digital marketing then articulate how it enhances, leads or supports today’s integrated media and content strategy. We want someone who teaches, motivates and ingrains the benefits of digital marketing (i.e. demystify it) in a company that knows digital marketing and social media create better consumer engagement yet has a tendency to rely on more traditional media and advertising because everyone “gets it.” We want someone who will identify and evaluate relevant content platforms that connect and amplify our brand stories with our consumers. We want someone who really understands consumers live in a multiscreen, multi-touch-point world. This someone has no personal bias only incredible marketing and business judgment to achieve the results we want.

Profile:
This is a leadership role and will be a report to the VP, Integrated Communications. This person will work closely with multiple department heads (IS, CR, Media, PR/Entertainment, Strategic Alliances, Planning, Global Marketing, Legal) to design and drive collaborative programs to “build our brands” and “close the sale” using digital best practices and innovation. The Director, Digital Strategy will have 2 direct reports and manage portfolio agencies for moderation, social media publishing and analytics as well as influence the digital agency roster. This person will manage agency relationships (including our social media partners Facebook, YouTube, Twitter) and assess capabilities of existing and potential partners.

Top Accountabilities and Skills:
• Work with VP to determine relationship of Paid, Owned, Earned media and optimize the mix for the portfolio;
• Set up Diageo NA for success with a future-looking Digital Infrastructure, connecting platforms and consumer journey to the brand purpose and idea in conjunction with Global MI and IS;
• Champion SEO/SEM development, CMS and ease of navigation to drive engagement;
• Own Social Media strategy, identify and coach internal editorial teams and determine effective publishing best practices;
• Develop Analytics – manage team of internal and external partners to assess data and provide analysis and actionable insights to drive results;
• Oversee broader digital team working on thebar.com, mobile, ecommerce, local market digital activation and search;
• Engage brand teams to optimize the benefits of portfolio services, systems and tools;
• Own Responsibility agenda in digital and ensure digital governance compliance is well understood and practiced throughout the organization.

Experience:
• 10+ years’ marketing, media and digital experience;
• Agency and client side experience preferable;
• Proven track-record setting KPIs and driving results;
• Portfolio management experience.
