euronews Real Economy: Growing Europe's Regions through Innovation
As preparations for implementation of the reformed Cohesion Policy are heating up in the EU's Member States and regions, euronews magazine, 'Real Economy' puts the spotlight on innovation as a catalyst for growth and competitiveness, and questions Commissioner Johannes Hahn on how European Structural and Investment Funds can make a difference.
With around a quarter of the current EU regional policy budget going into innovation projects already, the Commissioner emphasises the need for the right conditions to be in place for investments in regions, including an innovation strategy, and a clear strategy with a realistic vision of what can be achieved.
