Zalando Technology is the base of our e-commerce platform. We’ve developed most of that base in-house: the shop, internal systems and our logistics software. We work in short cycles in order to adapt our software continuously to our processes.
We mainly use open source solutions when it comes to development and system operation and work in small, agile teams. The technology department comprises the teams of feature and platform engineering, product management, quality assurance and business intelligence. Every team is central to the perfect shopping experience which millions of customers have at Zalando.
Java Engineer - Recommender System (M/F) in Berlin.
We are looking for a Java developer to join our Recommendation Team. We are developing an in-house recommender system for on- and off-site deployment.
Our focus lies on customisability and scalability and the use of state-of-the-art technologies.
The dedicated Recommendation Team will consist of experienced Java developers, Data Hackers, Machine Learners, and Statisticans to cover the whole bandwidth of the problem setting.
Your skills
• You worked 2+ years as a Java developer in a commercial high-traffic environment (Maven or Ant, JUnit, Continous Integration, Spring, RESTful Webservices).
• You worked 1+ years with Hadoop or other MapReduce Frameworks.
• You handle large amounts of data without problems, think out-of-the-box, and find creative solutions when facing technical problems.
• You are skilled in at least one dynamic language (Python, Perl, Clojure,...).
• You optionally already implemented large-scale recommender systems and are interested in Machine Learning and Data Mining or have already implemented one/many.
• You speak English and/or German fluently.
