Lacor Hospital Overview

Lacor Hospital is a private, non-profit Ugandan hospital, whose mission is to guarantee affordable medical services in particular to the neediest people.
Founded in 1959 by the Comboni Missionaries for the Gulu Catholic Diocese, after 1961 it was managed and developed by Drs. Piero Corti (an Italian pediatrician) and Lucille Teasdale Corti (a Canadian surgeon) up until their deaths (2003). Today more than 600 employees, all Ugandans, work within the Hospital organization, under the direction of a staff of Ugandan Doctors.
The Corti Foundation, located in Milan, Italy, created by Drs. Piero and Lucille Corti in 1995, is supporting the Hospital, by means of fundraising activities, technical support and worldwide promotion.

Job Opportunity
On behalf of St. Mary’s Hospital, Corti Foundation is recruiting a substitution for the current IT Manager, that will leave end of second half 2014.

Role Description
The selected candidate will be in-charge of St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor medium size, Microsoft based, Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure.
The IT Manager has moreover to provide support to external developers and internal users over Microsoft Dynamics NAV, currently used as the main ERP covering all the organization’s business areas. The ideal candidate will be asked to regularly review the setup, configurations and reporting of Microsoft Dynamics NAV in line with changing needs from users and Management, as well as to develop custom solutions able to meet the organizational needs not met by Microsoft Dynamics NAV and to maintain the existing homemade applications (developed using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET) and customizations.
Reporting directly to the Hospital Administrator, the IT Manager will consult also with the Hospital Technical Advisors to determine hardware, software, communications, and operational needs and requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
• The IT Manager will be responsible for all computer hardware, PC software, operating systems, data communications, computer operations, and networking within the Hospital.
• The IT Manager develops and maintains the Information Technology Policies, Procedures and Standards, concerning Hardware, Software, Data Communications, Media Libraries and Information System(s).
• S/He will evaluate and recommend agreements for outside services including data communications, networking offset data storage, equipment maintenance and repair, software support and other services.
• S/He will work closely with the Hospital Microsoft Partner in managing the current release of our Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 based ERP and he will be directly involved in the development of customized features.
• S/He will maintain the locally developed applications integrated within our ERP and shall be able to develop new custom solutions.
• S/He will manage a small staff of technology professionals and data entry clerks, and, where necessary, conduct training, performance reviews and corrective actions.

In addition to the above mentioned business skills, the successful candidate will also have the ability to:
• Configure and install communications and PC hardware and software, performs problem diagnosis and recommend solutions.
• Install and upgrade operating software on PCs, Servers, Network and Storage platforms.
• Test and monitor network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining and/or improving network infrastructure performance as needed.

• Recommend hardware / software solutions for short-range problems, and support long range technology planning.
• Regularly review all security access and firewall logs for potential unauthorized access or security breaches.
• Manage all backup and recovery operations.
• Evaluate new and emerging technologies for their application within the Hospital’s IT infrastructure.
• Maintain Lacor Hospital’s web site and its domain registration.

Basic Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Education and Experience:
• Hold a Degree in the Information Technology field
• Hold a Microsoft Certification (e.g. MCSE, MCSA).
• Have at least 5 (five) years of experience in managing a medium size I.T. Infrastructure.
