The Communications Director will be a senior leader on our Italian team, crafting our brand building strategies through high-impact media campaigning, media relations, and marketing. You’ll tell stories of people power, amplifying the ability of individuals to shape society for the better, and inspiring millions to believe in their own potential. You’ll make a huge impact as you help millions of people start and successfully run their own local campaigns for positive social change.


Here’s what you’ll do as part of our team:
• Oversee all press, messaging and external communications around Italy campaigns.
• Strengthen our brand in the country, and helping to establish Change.org as the central open platform for social change in Italy.
• Identify promising grassroots campaigns started by users in Italy on local, regional, national or global issues. You’ll help these campaigns win by providing strategic advice & conducting media outreach.
• Design and execute rapid-response social change advocacy campaigns in partnership with other stakeholders, with the potential for explosive growth and swift victories.
• Identify and execute on strategies and tactics to tell compelling stories of success, people power, and impact through Change.org.
• Establish and maintain deep partnerships with leading NGOs, established media outlets, influential online outlets, celebrities & social media leaders and bloggers.
• Engage with different content publishers (i.e. print media, broadcast media, online media etc) to communicate campaign messages and organisational communications.
• Collaborate with a global team of campaigns and communications experts to help shape the direction of Change.org internationally.

And here are the skills & experience we hope you have:
• A deep understanding of campaigning and a commitment to our mission of empowering people to win campaigns on the critical issues of our times.
• High-level strategic thinker, with a strong grasp of politics and power.
• You understand the political and corporate pressure points in Italy.
• Exceptional writing skills in Italian.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
• Innovative ideas on how to use communications, media and storytelling to win local, national and international campaigns – and a willingness to take risks, to fail, and to adapt.
• Insightful understanding of messaging and framing, and the judgment to repeatedly find the right message to engage Change.org members, campaign targets, journalists and other stakeholders.
• You should enjoy working in an online environment, using social media and collaborating using online tools.
• Strong leadership and persuasiveness skills. You’ll be able to inspire people to understand the possibilities of people-powered change.
• A track record of good judgement. You’re able to make sound decisions in fast-moving situations.
• Strong rapport-building and relationship skills. You can effectively build and maintain partnerships.
• Initiative and a can-do attitude across a variety of campaign issue areas.
• Masters or Equivalent in Mass Communication and a proven track record of effectively building a brand within Italy.
