EUSDR Youth Platform - Contribution of non-formal and formal education to social cohesion in the Danube Region

Interkulturelles Zentrum – the Austrian National Agency for Erasmus+ Youth in Action is looking for two facilitators

Description


The EU Danube Region Strategy (EUSDR) is a macro-regional strategy that should foster cooperation between the countries of the Region in 11 so-called Priority Areas (PA). In the Framework of one of the Priority Areas – PA 9 “People and skills”, Interkulturelles Zentrum, the Austrian National Agency for Erasmus+ Youth in Action, has been appointed by the “Austrian Federal Ministry of Education and Women’s Affairs” to create a “Youth Platform”. The activity is organised in cooperation with NIFSP - Erasmus+ Youth National Agency of Hungary and the SALTO Resources Centres for Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.

We are looking for two facilitators for the first meeting of stakeholders of the Youth Platform, which will be held from 15 – 17 December 2014 (2 full working days over 3 calendar days) in Vienna, Austria. Annual meetings of the Youth Platform are planned for the next years.

Aims of the process:
• Define needs for future cooperation between formal and non-formal education and youth work to strengthen social cohesion in this region.
• Strengthen the role and the recognition of youth work and non-formal education/learning.
• Highlight the importance of the cooperation between formal and non-formal education in regard to the educational pathway of young people.
• (Methodological impact on school education).

Objectives of the Youth Platform 2014:
• Highlight good practices in cooperation between formal and non-formal education/youth work.
• Serve as a meeting point between institutions from the formal and non-formal education and youth work sectors to share experiences and define common needs for this region.
• Foster sharing of ideas and explore possible funding opportunities within Erasmus+ and other funding schemes.
• Exchange about the challenges and obstacles faced when working with the target group.

Expected Outcomes – to be discussed in-depth with facilitators.

Target Group: Around 60 practitioners: teachers and youth workers working with young people facing socio-economic difficulties, National Agency staff + selected experts/institutions.

Requested trainer profile

The facilitators' task will be to develop and implement the programme of the Youth Platform in close consultation with the organisers.

Facilitators should:
• have extensive experience in working on the topic of social cohesion in relation to formal and non-formal education;
• have extensive experience in working on the topic of the educational pathway of young people and the potential contributions that formal education and non-formal education/learning and youth work can make;
• be familiar with / have expertise in projects in the field taking place in this region;
• have excellent overall facilitator skills with regard to working with bigger international groups in the frame of non-formal education and youth work:
• be able to work in English.

Preference will be given to facilitators coming from a country belonging to the Danube Region.


Working conditions

Facilitators are requested to participate in a two-day preparation meeting in mid-September in Vienna (dates to be defined together with the facilitators) and to arrive one day before the Youth Platform for last preparations.

They are also expected to contribute to the final report of the activity.

Payment: 1.400 € (280 € x 5 days). Board and lodging during the preparation meeting and the activity will be covered by the organisers. Travel costs to both meetings will be reimbursed upon presentation of tickets and invoices.
