Project Manager in Child Protection
DUTY STATION: Lebanon
STARTING DATE: January 2015

Role, task and responsibilities

• The Project Manager is in charge of the implementation and the supervision of a child protection project. S/he is also responsible of developing response plans to humanitarian needs that may result from conflict escalation in the area and early recovery programs in the area of intervention. Specifically s/he will be responsible;
• To plan and monitoring the implementation of the psychosocial, recreational, informal skills training and awareness activities for youth/children (boys and girls) and adults ensuring a community based, participatory and child centered approach;
• With the support of the Protection Officer (case management CP & GBV) plan and monitor CP and GVB case management services;
• Supervise and coordinate the community awareness activities by facilitating community participation;
• Supervise the individual psychological support component and referral to specialized services;
• With the support of the PO conduct a mapping of actors and stakeholders working in the field of CP and GBV and prepare a SWOT with regards to service delivery for CP/GBV and accordingly organize trainings and workshops;
• To identify local actors to be capacitated on different levels (organizational level, strategy level, administrational level, activities level etc.) and to support them to take the lead in planning, implementation and monitoring of CP and GBV activities;
• Conduct regular visits to project’s targeted areas, to provide supervision as well as regularly monitor the progress of the project activities;
• Ensure regular coordination with protection working group and relevant donors and stakeholders;
• To be responsible for accurate project administration and to supervise and monitor the preparation of accounting documents for interim and final financial reports required by donors;
• To be responsible for the accuracy of all reports required by donors;
• To submit to the Head of Mission, consistently with data entered into the PAT, the activity reports that will be submitted to the donor.


Job requirements
• University degree in relevant subject (Law, Social Science or Humanitarian Subjects) with a relevant combination of academic qualifications experience;
• At least 4 years of progressive responsible professional experience in humanitarian affairs, human right, child protection experience in coordination of cooperation projects, including at least 2 years of experience in coordination and project management of projects and 1 year experience on in emergency response or humanitarian relief context;
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Protection and specifically Child Protection applied to emergencies;
• Good skills in administration of funds, logistics and human resources;
• Knowledge of the procedure of international donors (UN donors, ECHO, EC, etc);
• Mastery Proficient in using IT tools (MS Office package, internet, email, etc.);
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with analytic approach;
• Experience in supervising and mentoring other staff;
• Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts;
• Strong ability to achieve results effectively, considering the need for speed, scale and quality;
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
