WORK CONTEXT

Cesvi has been active in Afghanistan since 2002, implementing community development, rural reconstruction, skills building and health programs.
Cesvi works in cooperation with the local communities to improve their livelihood, with particular focus on the most vulnerable groups, such as returnees, IDPs, landless labourers and female-headed households. Since 2008 our interventions are focused on Herat Province, with the financial support of the Italian Cooperation, and in close collaboration with local and national Authorities. The two main sectors are income generating activities and support to the DRR sector.
Cesvi is implementing a project financed by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with Department of Education and University of Herat, with the relevant public authorities. In support of the challenge of the Afghan government to ensure a fair and non-discriminatory education, the project focuses on improving services school-community with the goal of increasing access to education in rural areas, particularly girls who can not attend schools outside of their villages. The project will provide in-depth courses on children’s rights and the right to education for boys and girls, aimed at school directors, officers DoE, and teachers.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The collaboration will start at the beginning of April 2015. It will last 3.5 months.
The incumbent will based mainly in Herat. Please note that short missions countrywide, for project identification and stakeholders relations, should be requested.

Main tasks are:
• Coordination and preparation: The expert will coordinate with University of Herat and develop materials and methodology for the training, based on the INEE and the Education in Emergencies and LSE;
• Conduct the training: The expert will overview and support for the overall running of the training, including coordination and preparation with other supporting facilitators.
• Consolidation and Evaluation: The expert will consolidate the outcomes of the workshop and develop an outline of a plan for future follow up, training and identified gaps.

In order to improve the quality of education, are expected for teachers training courses on new teaching methodologies, supported by a supervisory system that guarantees the application of content learned. The parents of the students and the community will be involved in meetings of restitution and awareness days organized by teachers and pupils.
He/She will collaborate, within the established deadlines, to the draft of the related project reports (activities planning, work progress and final reports) as requested by the donor and the Headquarters.
He/She will recognize and report any necessary variation, extension or revision of the original project.
The ECR for all his/her tasks reports directly to the PM.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
University degree and Master degree related with children’s rights.
Proven significant experience as a Master Trainer related to the INEE and children’s rights.
Able to use and demonstrate participatory inter-active training skills as well as technical skills relating to education in emergencies to advanced trainers humanitarian workers and education professionals.
Thorough knowledge of the Minimum Standards for Education in Emergencies, MDG, Chronic Crises and Early Reconstruction and EiE Frontline Responders training.
Experience in working with government counterparts to develop education emergency plans and tools for teachers (Life skills education).
Extensive experience and understanding of the challenges faced by education planners in fragile state environments.
Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in written and spoken English and Italian. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
