Quando e Dove: 22-25 aprile a Rezenke, Lettonia; 26-31 maggio a Razlog, Bulgaria

Descrizione del progetto
This project focuses on EU citizens, regardless of nationality, race, gender, age, sexual and other orientation, religion or any other possible discriminatory identity. Its main aim is to raise awareness in local communities and provide citizens with space, time and tools for expressing their views on the EU, and help them understand their role and place in the EU. Thus, we will attempt to demonstrate that acting locally and for the common good of our local communities, we can actually be thinking about the good of the wider European community, without needing to reconsider our local traditions. The idea of the project is to motivate EU citizens to think internationally while acting locally, to eventually (s)elect the EU we dream for and for the future generations.

The project consists of 6 international events and of parallel activities that will take place in all partner countries. More specifically, the activities are:

International conference – 22-25 april 2015 in Rezenke, Latvia.

Hosting organisations: European Association “World-Our Home”.

Involved countries: Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, France.

YouNet is looking for 1 Italian participant as youth leader. Participants age and profile: 22-32 years old.

During the international conference there’ll be presented the comparative analysis of the researches conducted during the first phase of the project about the most sensitive EU topics according to EU citizens, in the aftermath of EU elections. That will be followed by round table discussions between NGO representatives, local authority representatives and the public on the given topics. The participants will also learn how to run a youth talk.

Expected results: locals from the hosting country as well as interested stakeholders such as Research Centres, Universities, NGOs, and local authorities will be informed about the situation in the countries where the research took place, in regard with the attitudes/tendencies and opinions of the EU and Candidate Countries’ citizens towards the EU, the EU citizenship, EU elections and the EU policy-making process. The participants will also learn how to run a youth talk, in order to be able to lead those debates in their towns.

International seminar – 26-31 May 2015 in Razlog, Bulgaria.

International Initiatives for Cooperation – Bulgaria.

Involved countries: Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, France.

YouNet is looking for 3 Italian participants (1 participant is the one going in the previous seminar in Latvia). Participants age and profile: 22-32 years old.

International seminar for interested people from the local communities. Using the results of the research, as well as expert opinions shared in Latvia, this seminar will inform its participants about the possible ways for participating in the policy making process of the EU, the importance of the EU elections, and the importance of active participation in local level for the well-being of the EU communities. Its results will be presented at an open to the public session.

Expected results: the participants will be prepared to become multipliers of the values that the project promotes, and will be ready to facilitate the following steps of the project. The open to the public session as well as a well-planned online dissemination of the results of the seminar, will assist in spreading the outcomes to a wider public. All the results will be gathered in a booklet that will be freely available for download.

Local events (in Bologna)

Youth talk in Bologna on the 9th of May during the day of Europe. This youth talk will be run by the youth leader (who have learnt in Latvia and Bulgaria how to organize a youth talk) and the participants who attended the seminar in Bulgaria. The debate will be open to the youth public in Bologna. It will be run through the “Oxford Debate” method and the main topic will be “EU citizenship – rights and obligations”. It means that during the debate the participants will be divided into two groups and will need to support either pros or cons for European rights and obligations.

Expected results: through organizing and running the youth event in Bologna, the youth leader and the participants who attended the seminar, will develop its public speaking skills, self-confidence, deeper knowledge on the EU citizens topic, etc.
