Head of Communications & External Relations Department – Managerial Position

Your Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director of EFSA, you will:
• As part of EFSA’s management Team, work closely with the Executive Director to provide expert guidance and help ensure consistency of message across the business;
• Work with EFSA’ senior management to identify key stakeholders and develop strategies for scientific cooperation and networking with EU sister Agencies and Member States’ risk assessment and scientific organisations;
• Develop and direct a contemporary communication strategy including EFSA’s staff and experts as key audience;
• Make scientific conclusions accessible through innovative, exemplary risk communications;
• Manage the overall department, including the setting of customer-centric objectives;
• Have full budgetary management responsibility across all communications channels.

Your Skills

Experience and knowledge

• Experience in developing and successfully implementing cooperation and/or partnership propositions from the outset;
• Experience of reputation management in a large organisation in the public sphere within a political environment;
• Experience in developing and implementing communications programmes both alone and in partnership with external providers;
• Experience in managing a team of staff and leading middle managers;
• Hands-on experience in budgetary and financial management;
• Excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English.
