ACRA has an active presence in a number of countries in Africa (Mozambique, Zambia, Senegal, Chad, Burkina Faso, Tanzania e Zanzibar), in Central & South America (Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras) and in Asia (Cambodia, India).
Innovation, participation, social entrepreneurship and sustainability are key in the intervention of ACRA in these countries. ACRA has a broad livelihood and environmental programs and extensive experience in behavioral change campaigning and support to SMEs and social entrepreneurs.
ACRA began working in India in 2010, in the state of Punjab, focusing particularly on women and children, the most disadvantaged segments in terms of resources, access to healthcare and education and has explored India as the best incubator for scaling up market-based solutions for the poor.

Location: Bangalore and Chennai, India

Main tasks & responsibility

We are seeking a Project Manager for an EU-funded project supporting the switch to sustainable consumption patterns and behaviour in India. Specifically the project’s objective is about the ‘Switching to a sustainable auto-rickshaw system: triggering sustainable lifestyles and poverty reduction in urban India’. The business model to be replicated is based on three principles: access to financial and social services, alternate sources of revenue and clean tech for auto-rickshaw engines. The project aims include financial inclusion for drivers, social security, driver-ownership of auto-rickshaws, higher incomes and positive environmental impact.

Roles and responsibilities
The Project Manager will have the responsibility of overseeing and implementing, in collaboration with project partners, activities in the set up and implementation of a social marketing campaign, support to the process of scaling up of a business model and creation of a Federative Structure. Environmental and Marketing expertise would be an asset.
The Project Manager has the overall responsibility that Project activities are managed in accordance with the Project’s documents, the donor guidelines, and ACRA procedures, policies and guidelines, ensuring quality implementation within the specified timeframe.
The position will require travel within India.

More specifically the Project Manager will be responsible for (but not be restricted to):
• Work in coordination with partners on the strategy, communication and the implementation of the activities, as well as on ensuring completion of all partners’ deliverables and commitments;
• Managing and building relationships with stakeholders involved in the Project and any other relevant entity;
• Coordinate with the Social Business Unit in the HQ;
• Monitoring the optimal use & budget adherence of financial resources in the project;
• Ensuring that all ACRA’s procedures for administration and financial management are implemented and adhered to;
• Regular project follow-ups in the field;
• Accompanying a correct implementation of indicators and data gathering;
• Preparing regular internal reports for ACRA and to the donor, as well as quality control of the project and specific reports where requested;
• Offering logistics and support to missions, event and/or initiatives related with the Project and with ACRA work in general;
• Representing ACRA for matters related with the project aim;
• Identification of potential activities and intervention in support to Project activities, and relative formulation of new opportunities in India.

Requested qualifications and skills:
• Strong communicator with a track record in project management, business development and working with multiple stakeholders;
• Experience and/or knowledge of implementing innovative social business and systemic change approaches and market-based solutions for working with the poor;
• Project Cycle Management and Administrative Management experience of at least 5 years in International Cooperation Projects, preferably funded by the EU;
• Experience in social marketing and SME development and support;
• Experience in market-based approach to development;
• Relevant university degree in management, marketing, economics (preferred);
• Experience working in complex contexts, specifically in Asia;
• Proven communication, interpersonal, negotiation, promotion and leadership skills;
