Between hiking trails and stone walls, Jeunesse et Reconstruction presents you with a unique volunteer project which will take you to the foot of the Savoie mountains, very near to Chambery. The town Saint-Alban-Leysse, which has already welcomed 5 international volunteer groups in recent summers, and the neighbouring town of Bassens, will both take part in this new international and civic action adventure. JeR expects 12 volunteers to take part in the renovation work in the two communities. As usual, the local organisations and inhabitants will be there to give you a warm welcome and will help you discover the Savoyard life and explore the magnificent landscapes near to Chambery.
You will do renovation work in Saint-Alban-Leysse during the first ten days of the project. The technical advisors for this part of the project will prepare a programme of varied tasks for you, from traditional stone masonry to painting urban furniture, and even clearing away undergrowth in green spaces. You will work in small teams and you will have the chance to try everything, under the watchful eyes of the experienced and kind town workers. During the final ten days your team will carry out work in Bassens: accompanied by a local walkers organisation, who will help you to restore the hiking paths to good condition. Please note: There will be bikes available to use by your team to travel between your accommodation and your project work sites.
