Workcamp in the capital of Wales

Data: 15/06/2016

During this unique and exciting project the group of international volunteers will work with members of community groups in Cardiff (mostly black/minority ethnic women) to explore and share ideas of peace, and to create ´Peace Stories´ as a part of the ´Wales for Peace´ campaign. You will receive training on different ways to capture stories and how to share them. The stories will be used to spread awareness of peace, multiculturalism and to promote tolerance and understanding. The majority of the project will be spent working alongside community members and taking part in many different community activities such as urban gardening, environmental projects, creative art workshops such as mosaic or mural, and preparing for a community festival on Saturday 20th August. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own skills and ideas to help shape the festival, and will be encouraged to showcase the stories they have created together with the community. This project is ideal for creative volunteers with a curiosity about others. And those who want to showcase or develop their digital storytelling skills!

The project will take place in the heart of Cardiff - the capitol city of Wales with a rich multicultural history. You will be working closely with community groups so will have a chance to really get a feel for the city and be a part of it. There are many different activities happening during the evenings and weekends such as gigs, concerts, performances, exhibitions etc. And many interesting places to visit such as parks, museums, and nearby beaches.
There is a lot to do in a big city but we would encourage the group to be motivated by the aims of this project, rather than only join this project because they want to experience city life.
