ISL 04 Hrabusice, KIDS, 03.07. - 09.07., Age: 18+
The EPIC non-profit organization has been cooperating with the village of HrabuUice since 2013 as they both try to influence public policies on employment and social inclusion of marginalized groups as Roma. Their activities, among other, are focused on better understanding and co-existence of Roma and non-Roma inhabitants of the village. The priorities in the cooperation are focused on mobilizing the young people to prepare the activities for the kids. Thanks to these initiatives, the village Hrabusice, located in Nature reserve park Slovak Paradise, was recently involved to large-scale EU driven research project named Local Engagement for Roma Inclusion. We see a big potential and an ideal beginning of how to change the situation by doing the workcamp in Hrabusice for the first time. The task of volunteers is to create free-time activities for group of 40 kids in the age of 6-14 years old. The activities will be done in the area of the schoolyard between 9.00-12.00 and 14.30-16.00. The schoolyard is situated in the very centre of the village. The activities are primarily designed for the kids from the Roma part of the village, other kids are also welcomed. There is enough material to prepare the programme for kids and with kids in various disciplines (sport, theatre, music, artistic work) depending on the abilities, skills and interest of the volunteers. Hrabusice is the entrance to the Slovak Paradise, it is only some kilometres from the Gothic path of historical monuments in Levoca, Spissky Stvrtok. There are many possibilities for free time activities like horse riding, tourism, swimming.
