This project is the continuation of the workcamp which took place last year. The town of Thann, situated in Alsace region, has a magnificent heritage of the Middle Ages, including the famous ruins of Engelbourg, a fort destroyed in the 17th century. This fort, called also ´The Eye of the witch´;, is an ancient part of a dungeon, celebrated for his beauty overhanging the town, such an enormous wheel on top of the mound. This site is the object of tourism and cultural development. Come and join the young people of Thann for this project! This year, you will do building work, masonry with natural stones on the site of the castle, according to the emergency of the interventions, you will also clear vegetation to evaluate the state of the masonry and do the necessary reparations and the landscape works (pruning, clearing, maintenance of the paths and low walls at the edge of the paths) on the access tracks. On your arrival, leaders will propose several activities; but your ideas are welcomed and everything can be discussed. So be imaginative, the workcamp is a place for having fun! We don’t expect you to do activities on your own, you will live an experience in a group and things are planned within the group. Thann (6000 inhabitants) is situated in the south extremity of the famous wine yards of Alsace. Kept rural while developing its industries and revitalizing the cultural life, the region has a tourist vocation amongst other assets. The towns of Colmar and Strasbourg are close as well as Germany.
