Head of Mission Erbil
Location: Erbil, Iraq
Closing date: 31st August 2016
Salary/benefits: According to the candidate’s experience.
Contract period: 2 months, extendible
CCS Italia is recruiting a dynamic, flexible, highly motivated professional, willing to bring her/his competence, creativity and experience to start up the operations of the organization in Iraq, namely in the Erbil Area.
CCS Italia Onlus is an Italian NGO working since 1988 in order to improve life conditions of children. Children wellbeing, children’s learning and gender equality among children are the goals the organization.
CCS Italia is looking for an experienced professional to start up its operations in Iraq, basing its offices in the city of Erbil. The challenges that the selected candidate will face are related with building the presence of the organization in the area, identifying new reliable, qualified and quality partners as well as new strategies of intervention and sources which could properly ensure their funding. Finally (s)he ideally will enable conditions for making CCS a recognized actor in the country. After the star-up of the operations the Candidate will be offered the opportunity to manage the funded projects.
Main tasks & responsibility
• The Candidate has the overall responsibility of CCS mission in Iraq. (S)he is in charge of Start up of the mission of the organization in Erbil;
• Project design;
• Representation with National Authorities, donors, and various stakeholders;
• Coordination with other National and International NGOs.
Strategic Activities
• Representing the Organization in the country, by liaising with the major governmental institutions, local authorities, donors and international agencies;
• Participating to thematic clusters coordination meetings with other NGOs and International Development agencies based in the area of Erbil;
• Defining a positioning for CCS in the country, realizing need assessments, feasibility studies, mapping funding possibilities in close coordination with the HQs;
• Writing project proposals and submitting them to the relevant donors.
The selected candidate will
• Start up the organization’s operations in Erbil;
• Build and Consolidate partnerships with international and local NGOs active in the area;
• Identify local staff for project implementation;
• Structure the essential logistics in order to support the operations.
Requested qualifications:
• Relevant university degree or higher education, Humanitarian Action, Human Rights, International Development, Gender studies;
• Strong knowledge of the main Child Protection, Gender Equality, Education in Emergency International frameworks and tools;
• At least three years experience in similar positions and emergency contexts;
• Previous working experience in Iraq.
Requested skills:
• Proven communication, interpersonal, representation, negotiation and leadership skills;
• Proven track record of project proposals designing and report writing preferably in the Child Protection;
• Education in Emergency, Gender Equality areas;
• Fluency in English;
• Good computer literacy.
Assets:
• Political and cultural awareness;
• Knowledge of Kurdish;
• Proven experience in working with ECHO, UNICEF, UN, USAID, DFID and other major international donors and knowledge of their policies and procedures.
