Logistics Unit Coordinator – Rome
Location: Rome HQ, Italy with frequent field missions Reporting to: Secretary General (SG) Starting date: 24/10/2016 Duration of contract: 3 years (renewable)
Tasks and responsibilities The Logistics Unit Coordinator defines and implements technical/logistic strategies and support to INTERSOS field programmes, ensuring the pertinence and coherence of logistics programmes, adequacy of the means provided and the compliance of INTERSOS and international standards; guarantee appropriate working conditions on HQ’s level as well as the proper functioning of the IT infrastructure.
Specifically the Logistics Unit Coordinator is responsible to: • Participate actively in the definition and update of strategic and annual planning of INTERSOS, defining strategies and providing advice to SG in the translation of the identified logistical / technical needs into objectives, priorities and resources needed for the INTERSOS HQ’s and Field Programs. • Manage “Procurement / Supply” activities related to logistics and ICT goods and services for HQ’s and missions according INTERSOS/donors procedures. • In coordination with the Programmes Department, is accountable to monitor the implementation of logistics/technical activities in the missions ensuring compliance of INTERSOS and international standards, protocols and procedures. • Is responsible for ensuring technical reference and support for all logistic/technical issues in the missions and provide coaching to senior logistic staff. • In coordination with the HR department, participate both on the recruitment and the capacity building processes for field logistic staff. • In coordination with the Security-Risk Management Referent, is responsible to define and monitor the technical aspects of the risk reduction policy and preparation of the technical aspects of the security policies and guidelines. • Provide reporting on projects/mission evolution from the technical/logistics perspective and propose corrections if needed • In coordination with the Programmes Department, undertake field missions for supervision, support and emergency interventions. • Responsible for the proper functioning of the IT infrastructure of the organization both at HQ’s and missions’ level.
Required profile/experience • Education: Relevant degree and/or equivalent Logistics working experience. • Experience: Relevant field working experience of at least five years and previous humanitarian experience. • Languages: English & French; Italian a strong plus. • Knowledge: ITC literacy strong plus. • Competences: Strategic vision, leadership, people management, teamwork and flexibility.
