Team Leader _ Haut Katanga, Lualaba, Haut Lomami provinces

Country: Democratic Republic of Congo
Closing Date: 31/10/2016
Duty Station: ex-Katanga province, Lubumbashi
Period: 6 months
Starting Date: 01/01/2017

Main objective:
The Area Team Leader will be responsible for the overall activities conducted by AVSI in the three provinces (Haut Katanga, Haut Lomami and Lualaba); he/she will coordinate the Support services in collaboration with the Operations Manager and will assist Project and Programme Managers to ensure a smooth implementation of activities.

Reporting to: DRC Country Representative.

Specific duties:

• Under the guidance of AVSI’ Emergency Coordinator, participate in decision making phases and lead on external communications on RRMP programme ensuring a high degree of visibility of AVSI’s work on field.
• Coordinate and participate in Humanitarian Need Assessments on field when required.
• Carry out regular field visits (field monitoring, evaluations, reporting, etc.) as per programs needs.
• Ensure regular update of the projects planning and tasks based on monitoring and reporting.
• Keep good relationships with all relevant stakeholders like UNICEF, Local Authorities, UN Agencies and other NGO’s operating in the area.
• Train staff in accurate recording, compilation, analysis and reporting procedures; ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
• Represent AVSI RDC at district-level coordination meetings (Sector Clusters and relevant Humanitarian Coordination Meetings).
• Participate in the design of future new project(s) in collaboration with AVSI’s Technical Advisors and Country Representative.
• Work in close collaboration with both locals Operations and Programmatic Units to ensure a smooth implementation of programs in the three provinces.

Essential Requirement:
• Demonstrable knowledge of humanitarian affairs, research and innovation.
• Preferable academic studies in Economics, Development, Social Sciences; a Master on Humanitarian Studies or Education an asset.
• At least 4 years proven experience with developing, managing and monitoring humanitarian aid programmes.
• Strong organisational skills including the ability to plan, prioritise and ensure implementation of work to required standards and tight deadlines.
• Excellent knowledges of Ms. Excel/Access.
• Fluent in French.
• Previous experience in DRC an asset.

• Willingness to travel within the country.
