Project Manager South Sudan

Period: 24 months

Main objective:

To coordinate and supervise all the activities for the project Women, Peace and Security funded by the US State Department in Cueibet County, Lakes State, South Sudan. The project aims to support women’s protection with a strong emphasis on gender-based violence prevention activities, and the promotion of female leadership and participation in peace building at all levels of Cueibet County, with a greater focus on local peace institutions at the lowest administrative levels. For this project, the AVSI team will work with local government and peace institutions in order to establish appropriate and effective response to reported incidents of GBV. AVSI will help increase the number of women having an active role in conflict incident mapping, monitoring, and reporting in Cueibet County. The project aims to have community-based peace institutions actively monitor, report, prevent, and mitigate conflict in all payams of the county.

Reporting to: Country Representative South Sudan.

Specific duties:
• To plan and coordinate all the project activities according to the donor rules and AVSI procedures;
• To be responsible for the implementation of WPS project in Cueibet County;
• To select, in collaboration with H.R. officer, and manage the local staff engaged in the project;
• To monitor and evaluate the project’s activities including production of the required technical and financial reports;
• To manage the procurement and the administration processes necessary for the project;
• To ensure that financial reports related to the project are prepared and submitted accurately and on time;
• To work in close relation and dialogue with the local partners, to improve their skill, management and performance;
• To relate with the local authorities and all the actors involved in the project, building relationships and sharing information to enhance project activities and sustainability;
• To actively participate in any regional technical working groups that are relevant to the project;
• To coordinate and support the research component of the project including providing guidance to the consultants and research team;
• To communicate effectively with AVSI CR in South Sudan, AVSI-USA and any other AVSI staff who are supporting the project, to anticipate any challenges and coordinate effectively communication with the donor and research partners.

Essential Requirement:
• Degree, preferably in Social Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health.
• Master in Humanitarian Studies or International Development.
• At least three years working experience in developing countries as JPO, PO, PM or similar.
• Proven experience as project manager implementing development projects, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Previous experience in South Sudan is an added value.
• Experience in developing peacebuilding, women empowerment and security projects in rural areas.
• Computer skills / Microsoft Office.
• Fluency in English, spoken and written.

Salary and Benefits:
• The salary proposed is the average of the PMs salaries in South Sudan.
• Benefits will include one (1) international flight per year, housing and medical insurance.
