Cultural Mediator – Palermo
Location: Based in Palermo with frequent missions on board in Sicily
Reporting to: Intersos Child Protection Specialist and Intersos Palermo Project Manager
Starting date: as soon as possible
Duration of contract: 2 months. Full time.
Closing date: 8 march 2017
Tasks and responsibilities:
The Cultural Mediator is responsible to assist with the intercultural mediation the Intervention in support of Children involved in the migratory process along the Central Mediterranean Route and in first line reception in Sicilia.
Specifically she/he is responsible to:
• Translate and mediate between the project staffs and the beneficiaries, protecting confidential information about them;
• Interpret and assist the implementation of foreseen activities;
• Participate in all the activities that require cultural mediation and translation.
Required profile/experience:
• Valid residence and work permit for Italy;
• Teamwork, intercultural sensitivity, flexibility, confidentiality;
• Experience with NGOs;
• Experience with vulnerable populations and victims of violence is an asset;
• Computer literate.
Language: excellent English required. Very good knowledge of French and Subsaharian main dialects. Italian is an asset.
