DEAR Project Officer – Brussels


The Project Officer position with World Vision’s EUREP office is a fixed term (2 year and a half) and full-time position.

Purpose:
To successfully coordinate and implement World Vision’s contribution to the EU funded project on the sustainable development agenda 2030 (DEAR Project) within the project consortium and within World Vision globally.

Supervision and coordination/consultation:
The Project Officer will be based in Brussels as a member of the office’s Advocacy and Policy Team, working under the supervision of the Policy Manager, but is expected to work with a high degree of autonomy and initiative. The Project Officer cooperates also with the Director of EU Advocacy and Policy and Communications Officer, as necessary.

Principle areas of responsibility/activities:
• Support the coordination and implementation of the WVI part to the EU funded DEAR project.
• Effective communications and reporting on the DEAR project.

Specific responsibilities, tasks and activities:
1. Support the coordination of the EU funded project
• Provide support to the Policy Manager and Director of EU Advocacy to implement and coordinate the DEAR Project;
• Coordinate the activities of World Vision for the SDGs Week of Action, the annual campaigns, and the toolkit of the project, leveraging the expertise of the other WV offices (Global Capitals, Field Offices and EU Offices) by:
• Drafting coordinated plans and activities with the Policy Manager to support the implementation of the project in a timely manner;
• Preparing work plans for various elements/ components of the project on a yearly basis under the guidance of the Policy Manager;
• Monitor progress on regular basis and give suggestions to the Policy Manager and Director of EU Advocacy on timely manner for corrective actions, if necessary;
• Supporting the production of the DEAR project toolkit for the annual campaign first thematic – Human Development and Inequalities;
• Develop World Vision’s input into SDGs-relevant policies and recommendations towards the EU, with particular emphasis on human development and inequalities (ie. Migration, Child Protection) together with the Policy Manager by:
• Searching and mapping WV’s FO work on SDGs (including CVA methodology);
• Ensuring inclusion of appropriate internal and external stakeholders in the policy development process, especially the key WV office partners (Romania and Ireland);
• Liaise and maintain regular contact with WV Global Capitals and FO and DEAR partner CSOs to support high quality input of the DEAR consortium to the European Commission on SDGs implementation (including M&E);
• Keep track and monitor changes in current EU and EC policies and information sources regarding Agenda2030 implementation at regional level;
• Actively and regularly attend the SDG Watch Working Groups meetings;
• Any other activities contributing to the achievement of WV EUREP’s strategic objectives for EU impact and influencing.

2. Effective communications and reporting on the DEAR project
• Disseminate EU SDGs related information to the other DEAR project partners and WV offices, as needed;
• Ensure timely preparation of monthly progress updates to the DEAR Project Coordinator;
• Ensure that regular financial reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) are prepared with the WV Brussels’ Head of Finances as agreed with the DEAR Project Coordinator;
• Support planning and implementing media campaigns and press releases under the guidance of the WV Brussels’ Communications Officer;
• Lead on setting and running webinars together with the Policy Manager for the wider DEAR project consortium field expertise is highlighted in the discussions;
• Minimum of 2-3 year(s) policy/project experience of working in the EU civil society sector, preferably with a development focus and/or in an international organisation;
• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in politics, international relations or a field relevant to World Vision’s mission;
• Demonstrated ability with regard to policy coordination, including external representation, drafting policies and recommendations, practical activism tools and translating field experience to the EU level etc;
• Very good organisational skills;
• Demonstrated experience in project management;
• Demonstrated experience in networking and coordination of civil society partnerships;
• A people-centered personality and a natural communicator who is eager to learn and thrives on bringing different stakeholders into one boat;
• Self-motivated and a strong team player who is able to handle complex situations;
