SHORTCUT TO HAPPINESS
Austrian writer Vicki Baum has said that there are shortcuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them. This quote has inspired the title of 10-days Youth Exchange Shortcut to Happiness, main theme of which is dance imagery. Overall aim of the project is to give young people facing long-term unemployment and(or) limited access to learning opportunities a non-formal learning platform for developing social and employment skills, creative talents and considering alternative carrier opportunities and thus increase their social connectedness. What will lie at the heart of the work is the cultivation of transferable skills and attitudes - and a new sense of belief in self and others. Proposed program will be intensive, rigorous, disciplined and challenging - a program for people who have to dance! The idea is to create an environment similar to the worlds of training and of work. Dance workshops will be mixed with teamwork and communication exercises, intercultural learning activities and at the end of Exchange participants will represent contemporary dance performance. Shortcuts to happiness will be explored in Struga, Macedonia, in multi-cultural teamwork of 48 participants from 8 different countries. Planning visit will take place from 20th to 22nd August 2010 and Exchange will happen from 17th to 26th of September.
