Project idea:
As we think that taxi drivers are not only good guides for visitors but also mobile tourist information offices, and, by developing their skills and attitudes, implementing their knowledge about the cultural aspects of the city where they work, we will also affect their life style, helping them understand the importance of their position in society and increasing their self-esteem. With this project, we intend to teach English to adult taxi-driver who will share their learning activities with other people and get involved in interaction with foreign visitors. Moreover, the participants to the programme will become more aware of multi-culturalism and develop a more positive attitude towards other cultures and languages.The instructions given to taxi-drivers will be tourism- and cultural- oriented, and will include all the necessary language that they may need to provide information on their city and on the monuments in it, and to share cultural aspects of the country.
