The foundation of CPL comes after the Earthquake of 1755 that happened in Lisbon and intended to provide assistance the poor, orphans and abandonen children, providing education opportunities. Nowadays CPL has 10 different establishments that offer protection to children, young people and their families. At the mome nt CPL protects 310 children and young people. It’s a pedagogical farm. Tasks for volunteer: - Environment and Biologic Activities: workshops to make traditional bread and jams, workshops about recycling, reusing materials and protection of Nature, visit to the forest, separation of waste in the eco point ; take care of animals and plants, birds observation, etc. - Summer Camps: animate and implement leisure time activities for children and youn gsters, with an entertaining but also educational purpose. Therefore, the idea is to have a variety of activities where the children and youngsters can learn, have fun and occupy their free times in Summer Camps in a healthy way. - Outdoor Activities: promote environment tours, adventure sports, outdoor games, etc. During the activity, they can also be responsible for monitoring the group and leading the activities. - Promote European Voluntary Service and other youth activities : the EVS volunteers will giv e visibility to their EVS activity, in order to motivate more young people to participate on EVS and in other youth activities like youth exchanges. This can contribute to expand their perspectives of the future and participate actively in the society. The y can organise exhibitions and presentations in schools and in youth clubs, etc. - Participation in the planning of the work: the volunteers will attend to the planning meeting where the specific objectives and activities are defined on a regular basis. In these meetings they can propose ideas to implement, propose solutions for specific problems, become aware of the working methodologies of the organisation, place their doubts or questions about the work, evaluate, etc. - Personal project: Promote a personal project that comes in accordance with the regular philosophy of the hosting organisation. The tasks presented will be developed by the volunteers according to their profile and to the hosting organisation’s needs. Profile of the volunteer: Special interest or previous experience to work in environment awareness field; motivated to work in a rural area; motivated to work with children and young people, self-motivated, dynamic, versatile, good mood, flexible, with self initiative, creative, with handwor k skills, willing to take on new challenges, opened to work with people of all backgrounds and cultures; enthusiastic to participate in the project; willing to develop new activities and with sense of responsibility.
