Project Description
The “Eurobridges” project is an EVS project which will take place in the the town of Onesti and it’s suburban areas, also including several small towns in Onesti’s vecinity (Targu Ocna, Comanesti, Moinesti). This project’s themes are European awareness and Media and communication/Youth information. It aims for a mutual understanding of 6 different European cultures and their own way of life through various activities of non-formal and informal learning. The involved countries besides Romania are: Turkey Portugal, Sweden, France and Italy. Having a partner from each country, they shall be the promoters of the project in their own area and shall send each one volunteer. Adding up, it’ll be 5 volunteers, which in their 3 months of EVS stage, shall be key-persons in implementing the foreseen activities. Volunteers shall keep a weekly video-journal which in turn will be analyzed and be part of a documentary about young people in Europe. The volunteers shall be involved in activities that presume direct interaction between cultures and personalities. Thus, volunteers shall be part of or initiators of the following activities: office work; holding courses about their own country’s language, traditions, holidays and everyday life; theme workshops with youth from the communities in urban and rural environments; out-door and round table activities with young people at the Juvenile Detention Centre in Targu Ocna. Everything aiming at a better understanding of eachother’s cultures and life and fighting against various types of discrimination and social exclusion. The results of the activity shall be compilated in booklets and a short documentary which shall be broadcasted in every partner’s country.
Coordinating organisation:
Asociatia de Tineret ONESTIN/ Onestin Youth Association;
Tasks of volunteer:
*Some tasks may be cancelled or added, on request, depending on the personal needs, interests and skills of the volunteer
- Assisting the Onestin office everyday activities ( communicate with members and other youngsters/ and cooperation partners, assistance in project development)
- helping out in the organization of occasional official training sessions for members or community
- organizing different types of in-door/out-door activities with members and partner institutions (kindergartens, schools, high-schools); and once per month a team-building activity for the members/or special event
- initiate together with Onestin management team a local internally financed mini-project
- conceive/promote his/her own project, in accordance to the Onestin goals
- hold his/her own course of language tuition/hold a different course (drawing, cuisine, traditional culture etc)
- initiate/participate to Onestin courses
-promote his/her own culture and it’s values
- promote the European Voluntary Service and other Youth in Action actions in order to motivate more young people into actively getting involved with the Youth in Action Program and other youth activities.
Economy:
- Travel from home place to project place. Covered 90 %
- Insurance within the EVS-system, covered by the system through sending organisation.
- House and food, covered by the host-project during the activity.
- Pocket money; € 60/month, covered by the host-organisation.
Working hours and days off:
30 hours per week, 5 days per week, two consecutive days off per week and 2 days holiday per month for the duration of the project. Also Romanian language tuition sessions are provided.
Occasionally, during certain week-ends, there also are present activities in the Minors Detention institution.
