Stage a Londra presso l’European Climate Foundation

The ECF is looking for an intern to work closely with Power programme staff on a wide range of programmatic and administrative functions. The selected candidate will work at ECF headquarters in The Hague, The Netherlands, and will primarily support in managing grantees and grant-seekers relationships, reviewing grant proposals and evaluating grantee reports. Other responsibilities include:

Within the Power Programme:
- Conducting research on energy and climate-related subjects;
- Drafting and editing documents, reports and presentations;
- Managing foundation-initiated projects such as meetings, contracts and reports;
- General administrative support, including scheduling, travel logistics, reviewing mail.

In support of the broader organization:
- Daily compilation of media articles of interest to the organisation;
- Maintenance and continuous update of ECF’s knowledge management system, including a calendar of relevant political events, the organisation’s e-library and a database of grantees and grant-seekers.

We seek candidates that actively generate and implement ideas for programme and office improvement, and offer great possibilities for professional development and an excellent work atmosphere. The ideal candidates should embody the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

- Relevant work experience or academic background in the fields of energy, climate, environmental studies or public policy.
- Demonstrated interest in the mission and values of the European Climate Foundation. A particular understanding and interest in energy efficiency will be particularly valued.
- Strong administrative skills; excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and juggle diverse tasks.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure, take initiative and be a creative problem-solver.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently; enthusiastic personality; sense of humour.
- Solid computer experience with emphasis in Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Mac an asset.
- Fluency in English (required) and at least one other European language (preferred).
- Experience in working with NGOs is desirable.

Start date: interviews will take place the second half of December or early January, in Brussels or The Hague. Work starts as soon as possible after that.
Duration: six to 12 months, negotiable for the right candidate.
Compensation: in line with that of internships in European institutions (Commission, Council and Parliament).
Workplace: The Hague, Netherlands.

Research Interns, Energy Strategy Center, London
The Energy Strategy Center (ESC) is the communications team of the European Climate Foundation (ECF.) The ECF aims to promote climate and energy policies that greatly reduce Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions and help Europe play an even stronger international leadership role in mitigating climate change.

General job description:
We’re looking for 2 interns to work on a specific project examining media representations of climate change. The internships will be based in central London, and will be unpaid. We’ll cover reasonable travel expenses and lunch. Candidates will need to be available for at least 3 months.

If you have a keen interest in coverage of climate science and policy in the media and online, and you’re an excellent researcher and communicator, this is a great opportunity to gain experience of working at the cutting edge of the climate debate.

The intern’s responsibilities will include some of the following tasks, but note that this is not an exhaustive list and tasks will vary:
- Researching coverage of climate science and policy online and in the media;
- Media monitoring;
- Writing for the web;
- Managing contact database;
- Administrative support;
- Working on a self-directed project.
