Summary:
The 6-day training course aims at widening the perspective of participants (coming from 8 Eu countries)in using human rights education with young people in processes related to empowerment and participation, using the non-formal learning methodology.
Target group: Trainers, Youth leaders, Youth workers.
For participants from:
Belgium - DE, Belgium - FL, Belgium - FR, Lithuania, Poland, Spain.
Group size: 30 participants.
Objectives:
Overall aim of the training course: The course aims to widen the perspective of youth workers/leaders in using human rights education with young people in processes related to empowerment, participation and young people’s self-development, through reinforcing competences, reaffirming core concepts, main tools and methodologies.
Objectives
• To develop participants’ knowledge in key concepts of human rights education, youth empowerment, participation and self-development;
• To reaffirm participants’ competences in adapting activities related to human rights education, youth empowerment and self-development (using Compass – A Manual on Human Rights Education with Young People and other resources, e.g. SALTO publications etc.) to different situations and youth groups;
• To reflect on personal and professional values, experiences, attitudes and behaviours in youth work in relation to human rights education, empowerment and participation
• To explore instruments, exchange experience and possibly develop new instruments for youth empowerment and self-development through human rights education;
• To develop activities and projects to be implemented at local, national and European level aimed at empowering youth through human rights education in the frame of the Youth in Action Programme
• To explore e-learning as a tool for working with youth on human rights, empowerment and participation.
The programme of the training course will include:
- sessions dedicated to getting to know each other, the introduction of the training course and building trust in the group of participants;
- session about the background of the participants, their associations, their country situation related to youth, human rights, non-formal education and youth empowerment;
- sessions dedicated to sharing the preparatory work done by each participant;
- session dedicated to the European level youth policies, Youth in Action programme and the Competences framework, also linked to the process of defining the youthpass;
- sessions dedicated to the development of youth workers and leaders’ competences;
- training sessions on human rights, human rights education, links between human rights education and the empowerment of youth in society, active citizenship and participation;
- training sessions on exploring the concept of HRE through simulating pedagogical activities;
- evaluation moments, either ongoing and final;
- sessions dedicated to defnining the follow-up activities to foster the networking of good practices and developping new projects, through the e-learning plateform;
- sessions dedicated to the development of youth workers and leaders’ competences.
Costs:
Participants will cover 30% of their travel costs and a participation fee of 30 euro.
