Europe Direct North East England has been approached by a group of 8 girls aged 14-16 who are part of the WOW Club (Women on Wheels) in County Durham, North East England. They are all keen mountain bikers and have recently completed several impressive UK cycle challenges. They would now like to find a similar, English-speaking group in another European country with whom they could plan a youth exchange around cycling, sport and healthy living, through the European Commission’s Youth in Action funding programme. The girls don’t mind whether they host a group in the UK first or travel to another country, but they would like at least the first part of the exchange to take place during the school summer holidays of 2011 (22nd July - 5 September 2011). This means that they would need to apply for funding to the 1st April deadline at the latest.
