Who is organizing?
Gaziantep Youth Union Association is organizing the project. The association was founded in 2006 by volunteers at University of Gaziantep. Our target groups are children and young people.
The aims of the organizations are:
• Being organized between children and youth people by legal and juristic personality,
• Being situated between children and youth people in the process of management, decision and administration with the comprehension of equality,
• Researching the problems of children and youth people and producing solutions for the problems,
• Assisting in raising the conscious of children and youth people' rights,
• Providing the communication and cooperation between children, youth people and volunteer foundings,
• Constituting politics related to children and youth people and assisting in improving existing politics.
Background of the project..
About MEDIA APPRENTICES Volume 1 (2007-2008)
Media Apprentices is about youth activities including publishing a monthly youth newspaper by themselves, reaching all young people by web site of the project, conferences about media process, photo exhibition of young newspaper's editors, workshops in project team with common education style and as a result provided young people to add an active social life and in Gaziantep. Thank to this project young people in Gaziantep were informed about media. Moreover this newspaper was the first youth newspaper of Gaziantep, was named “Tuval”. In addition to this the project was selected as one of the best projects in 2009 by Turkish National Agency.
About Media Apprentices Volume 2
(September 2010-September 2011)
Now we carried on this project to transnational area as volume two. For this project we are preparing an international newspaper. In this newspaper, is named “Y-News”, all partner organization will have their own pages and thank to this, young people from different countries is be able to know each other’s ideas of everything about youth. In addition to this the newspaper will be pressed in each partner’s languages. It means the newspaper is printed in four languages, Turkish, Portuguese, Bulgarian and Romanian.This satisfies that young people are from different countries can learn each other in their own language.
About “Youth Media for Youth Fest” ( 2 – 10 May 2011)
Between 06-09 May we are organizing a youth fest together with youth NGO’s, is named Gap Youth Fest. GAP youth festival, which we realized the first one in Mardin and the second one we were bringing together hundreds of young people with the theme of 'Cultural faces ”, in Batman, will eventuate Gaziantep in 2011. The festival, which will bring together third times youth and young people working in youth field, will be very colorful this year. Our project aims to prepare a daily newspaper between 6-9 May, for Gap Youth Fest. In addition to this we want to increase the awareness of young people about media process. The participants also will join the fest.
The participants have to
• Be aged between 18 and 30;
• Be highly motivated to work in intercultural surrounding and learn from it and in it;
• Be actively involved in a youth organization (e.g. coordinators and trainers of upcoming exchanges and EVS projects);
• Already working with the Youth in Action Program and have a certain experience in the field;
• Be willing to participate actively – including carrying out preparation work prior to the training;
• Be able to work in English.
