Media influence and messages shape public opinion and thus media engagement is vital in raising awareness on benefits of volunteerism and promoting volunteering. Training course will help participating organizations working to promote volunteering to become more efficient in cooperation with mass media. Through theoretic inputs and practical exercises learners will gain understanding about basic public relations tools and concepts: will learn to formulate powerful messages, write slogans, prepare press releases, build and manage relations with journalists and editors, organize press conferences, media events and social campaigns. Participants will learn also about specific challenges such as how to 'sell' to media stories about volunteering and related social issues, how to make the media consider regular covering of work of volunteers and how to present specific professional information in a form that corresponds with news values and is understandable and attractive for public. Using social media for raising awareness on benefits of volunteerism will be covered as well.
