Over the past few years, the global recession is changing the world and also has heightened awareness around purchasing decisions, stressing practicality over consumerism. Increasing cost consciousness, environmental problems and a digital technology are the drivers of the sharing experience. The project aims to investigate - over Europe - a new increasing lifestyle of sharing called "collaborative consumption" where the basis is connected to an emerging movement to shift the focus of our lives from "me" to "we." Examples are bike-sharing, urban gardens, office sharing.
The benefits of sharing are:
a.. learning between different generations and connect people;
a.. develop a different behavior more sustainable for the environment;
a.. live the community in a better way;
a.. rethink the consumerism defining not just what we consume but how we consume.
The beneficiaries are:
a.. older generations: are more likely to feel comfortable sharing with anyone at all who joins a sharing community;
a.. new generations: the digital native are able to embrace the new media in order to share ex. social networks
a.. institutions: it is possible and indispensable to teach our governors, starting from a local community, the benefits of a more sustainable way of life.
