Brief information about the Forum:
This Forum aims to bring together participants from various countries, which had conflicts in the past, but understood in the course of the history the only thing that matters is the life and prosperity of HUMAN BEING. Without an intention of imposing solutions to the ethno-political conflicts in South Caucasus, we want to create an opportunity for our participants to draw parallels with the conflicts of Europe and how it has shaped the profile of European nations. Analyzing the very core of European Union and finding out the specifics of the conflict settlement models that EU nations found after so many years of fight and sorrow, is planned to be serving as a trigger for young thinkers of ex USSR countries along with participants from EU countries and provide them a space to debate over steps that our political leadership and civil society should take.
Objectives:
• To provide participants with information and knowledge on the European experience of building cooperation and understanding between different European nations;
• To have discussion on the positive and negative aspects of the policies carried out in Caucasus in peace -building, achieving economic prosperity and strengthening the national identities of the Caucasian people during last 15 years;
• To discuss the probable models of the peace building policy in the region of South Caucasus and/or Moldova highlighting and applying “European experience”;
• To have a discussion on “Common House of Caucasus” cooperation and integration model;
• To identify the role of Youth NGO’s for the future regional cooperation in the region of South Caucasus;
• To celebrate 20 years anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijani independence.
Methodology
The first half of the day will be of academic background, where participants will have an opportunity to get presentations and interactive lectures from the experts. We plan to invite experts, including ambassadors of EU nations stationed in Azerbaijan to deliver lectures on agenda items. Afterwards, workshops (simulation games, role plays) will be dealing with different aspects of the lectures, in order to help participant to “internalize” information by application of “learning by doing” method. Last, but not least participants will be attending facilitated discussions, where they will have an opportunity to “project” their values, beliefs and reverse expression gained after the lectures and workshops.
Target group:
Active youth leaders, project carriers, voluntary or professional youth workers working in International Youth Organizations (INGYOs), National Youth Councils (NYCs), other national, local or international youth organizations, networks, or youth initiatives, governmental services and other partners, in particular those co-operating with the European Youth Centers or the European Youth Foundation. All candidates should have a specific practical experience in the field of youth work and be working in or with multi-cultural youth work settings, inter-community projects, conflict transformation.
